Acid reflux is a condition in which some of the esophageal muscles don’t work properly, which allows stomach acids to rise up in the esophagus. Individuals with the disease experience heartburn and could be at risk of developing more severe health complications.

In an effort to better detect the cause of acid reflux, a team of researchers performed upright and horizontal screenings of 49 patients who have been diagnosed or have shown symptoms of the condition. They examined how esophageal muscles were able to perform and how the condition was affected in both positions.

The investigators discovered that seven patients who experienced a mild case of acid reflux also suffered from esophageal motility, a lack of muscle strength in the esophagus. A total of 19 patients with a moderate case were diagnosed with the complication while lying down, and 10 individuals with a severe case of acid reflux all suffered esophageal motility while lying down.

Researchers concluded that discovering that these symptoms become worse while lying down may prove beneficial to developing medicines, which could improve long-term relief in acid reflux patients.

Approximately one in 14 people who reside in the United States suffer from acid reflux on a daily basis, according to AcidRefluxTreatment.org.

The burning sensation you experience when acid builds up in your esophagus and rises to the back of your throat is heartburn. But many people may have so much pain that they do indeed feel like they are having burning chest pains associated with their heart. Do you know the different warning signs for heartburn and heart attack?

In fact, as many as 60 million Americans suffer from heartburn at least once a month, and 25 million suffer from it on a daily basis. The vast majority of these people can find relief with natural supplements and by making adjustments to when and what they eat. But for some, the burning pain is actually a symptom pointing to a more serious problem.

Heartburn is a burning sensation that’s usually located in the chest. A lot of patients will say they feel it behind the breastbone. Some people call it a discomfort and don’t even call it a pain, but rather a sensation or an uncomfortable feeling.

Heartburn pain usually has a distinction from angina. A person having a heart attack would say that he “feels a squeezing sensation,” and will often clench his fist over his chest. Another good clue that a person is suffering from heartburn and not a heart attack is if it occurs after meals. People sometimes get heartburn if they eat a fatty or spicy meal, for example.

If you have heartburn and you’ve also thrown up blood, or if you notice that your stools have become black, that’s a sign of bleeding in the stomach where acid mixes with blood to turn it black. If it hurts when you swallow or if you have a fever in association with any of these symptoms, you should be evaluated by a physician. If you’re suffering from frequent heartburn, get yourself evaluated.

Other helpful suggestions include dietary changes, exercise, weight loss and maintaining pH balance. Supplements containing alkalinizing minerals can help keep your pH levels in balance for improved overall health.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that more than 38 million Americans experience acid overload.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that more than 38 million Americans experience acid overload. This condition affects the delicate pH balance of your cells, tissues and organs, which leaves you open to disease.

How do we become so acidic? Studies show that if you eat a typical Western diet of acid-forming foods like fatty meats, pasta, refined sugar, fast food, starches, processed and packaged foods, coffee and soda… then you could be at risk.

Improper pH balance can thicken your blood and increase your risk of heart problems… block vitamin absorption and starve your body of essential nutrients… create toxic buildup in clogged cells… slow down organ function and make you feel sluggish and weak… prevent proper digestion and create excess gas and bloating… cause unhealthy weight gain… and speed the aging process to make you look and feel older.

In order to maintain alkaline balance there are many beneficial minerals to help boost your oxygen levels so your cells stay strong and healthy. Here are just a few:

Selenium helps boost your immune defenses and neutralize harmful free radicals.

Calcium helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth… keep your blood pressure healthy… and improve weight control.

Copper helps your enzymes function… aid in the absorption of iron… transport oxygen through your body… stimulate hormone production… and boost your immune system.

Cobalt is essential for red blood cell creation… normal growth and appetite… and a decreased risk of anemia.

Phosphorous is required for strong bones and teeth… maximum bone strengthening… and effective kidney function for the elimination of waste.

Chromium helps build muscle… maintain blood sugar levels… balance cholesterol levels… improve carbohydrate metabolism… and promote balanced weight loss.

Magnesium boosts your heart health… keeps your blood sugar healthy… strengthens bones… and supports healthy enzyme function.

Iodine is essential for a healthy thyroid… improved metabolism… increased energy levels… and to keep skin, nails and hair healthy.

With these alkalinizing minerals you can finally rid your body of acid overload that destroys your healthy body tissues and interrupts your cell function. Take the steps now to check and maintain your pH levels for improved health for decades to come.

According to researchers from the University at Buffalo, eating foods that contain flavonoids, specifically orange juice may help prevent blood vessel damage brought on by carbohydrates that could eventually lead to heart conditions if not carefully monitored or treated.

The scientists split the participants into three groups who consumed different beverages with breakfast. Groups were asked to drink either not-from-concentrate orange juice, a glucose drink with the same caloric intake, or water.

The researchers found that patients who drank either water or sugary drinks did not experience the same potent protective effect that the flavonoids in orange juice produced in test subjects.

"Our data show, for the first time to our knowledge, that drinking orange juice with a meal high in fat and carbohydrates prevented the marked increases in reactive oxygen species and other inflammatory agents," said UB’s researcher, Dr. Husam Ghanim.

Those who are concerned about inflammation may also want to consider adopting an alkaline diet in order to cut out harmful carbohydrates.

As many as 60 million Americans suffer from it each month, but there are some all-natural ways to eliminate the problem without over-the-counter or prescription medications.

Common food triggers include chocolate, orange juice, coffee, tomato-based sauces, wine and high-fat foods. Therefore, eliminating reflux-causing foods and cutting back on portion sizes can help reduce the occurrence of heartburn. Eating slowly can help, too.

Sufferers should avoid eating late at night. Eating at least two or three hours before lying down is recommended to give the stomach time to digest and empty some of the acids that can cause pain.

Kevin Trudeau, author of Natural Cures They Don’t Want You To Know About tells NaturalNews.com that eating raw, organic foods and adding living enzymes to the diet can help eliminate heartburn. He also says drinking a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar before meals can reduce the pain.

The National Heartburn Alliance recommends reducing stress to help put out the fire of heartburn. Relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation and tai chi are all-natural health resources that cut down on stress and anxiety.

Most people today don’t even know that the root cause of virtually all sickness is acid/alkaline imbalance. This condition leads to acid overload which impairs your tissues and organs from absorbing key nutrients and vitamins. Please keep reading our checklist to determine if you’re at risk for the side effects of being too acidic.

According to research published in The Journal of Longevity, declining health is the result of acid overload. This condition is caused by a diet lacking in vegetables and whole foods, which causes your tissues and organs to become acidic. When this happens you can’t properly absorb key nutrients and vitamins and you’re open to all sorts of health disasters.

Acid overload can result in decreased circulation… heart problems… loss of libido… irregular bowels… painful muscles and joints… respiratory problems… and possible abnormal cell growth.

Is an acid overload behind YOUR symptoms? Simply answer these questions:

Do you suffer from high blood pressure, a failing heart or other heart problems?

Do your joints feel stiff, inflamed and painful or do you suffer from bone loss?

Has a doctor told you that your blood sugar levels are too high or too low?

Are you finding it more difficult to get a good night’s sleep?

Do you suffer from constant fatigue or energy crashes after meals?

Do you frequently endure cramping, constipation, heartburn or other digestive problems?

Do you sometimes feel depressed, negative and cranky?

Have you noticed that your ability to solve problems or to remember details is lacking?

Do you sometimes suffer from shortness of breath or other lung problems?

Do you experience pain, numbness or tingling in your hands, legs or feet?

Is your skin or hair aging more rapidly than they should?

Do you notice that your eyesight or hearing is fading at an alarming rate?

Do you suffer from low sexual desire or performance problems?

Do you contract infections more often with each passing year?

If you answered “YES” to one or more of these questions, there’s a good chance that you may be suffering from acid/alkaline imbalance. In addition to the best nutrition you can consume, the next step is to supplement with alkalinizing minerals.

Researchers from the University of Illinois determined that added dental plaque acid can contribute to a higher risk of developing cavities. However, it was noted that cereals that feature raisins without the added sugars do not produce any greater risk of cavities than plain cereal.

Scientists provided four kinds of food – raisins, bran flakes, commercial raisin bran cereal and a mixture of raisins and bran flakes with no added sugar. Participants chewed each food group for two minutes and then swallowed.

It was found that there a "danger zone of dental plaque acidity" when consuming commercially marketed raisin bran cereal as opposed to all of the other food groups. Eating this kind of cereal could potentially increase the amount of acidity in plaque, leaving individuals susceptible to cavities.

When there is no added sugar, raisins can serve as nutritional supplements for digestion.

However, those over-the-counter meds could be causing more harm than good. If you want to get relief with all-natural solutions, then keep reading this article to find out the one good acid your stomach must have!

There are more than 100 million Americans suffering from occasional heartburn. And most of you are trying to find relief by using antacids or over-the-counter digestion drugs. But this could be the root cause of your symptoms.

If you suffer from:

Heartburn

Indigestion

Bloating

Upset stomach

Embarrassing gas

Diarrhea or constipation

…then you need a safe and effective solution that can help ease your pain and discomfort.

It’s called hydrochloric acid (HCl), and it’s a naturally occurring stomach acid that you must have to break down your foods properly. When you body is deficient in HCl you can’t absorb the essential vitamins and minerals contained in your meals… then your cells become starved… and that’s when health problems, disorders and diseases can set in.

Once you begin to supplement with HCl and other digestive enzymes such as amylase, protease and lipase, you may experience an end to the burning feeling rising from your stomach into the center of your chest… relief from chronic burps and belches… a healthy balance of acid in your stomach… and an end to stomach acid backing up in your throat.

To prevent the cycle of taking antacids every day, only to have your painful symptoms return day after day and night after night, try these all-natural solutions for your worst digestive problems.

Exercising regularly, eating a healthy, low-fat diet and increasing vitamin D intake through food or nutritional supplements are important health resources to staying healthy and avoiding breast cancer and other disease.

In addition, maintaining a healthy pH balance by alkalizing your blood can help fight cancer since cancer thrives in acidic environments. You can use litmus strips to measure your body’s acidity and your goal should be to be more alkaline than acidic. Make sure your diet is rich in alkalizing foods such as green vegetables, beans, spices, herbs, seeds and nuts. Limit your consumption of alcohol, coffee, meat, fish, poultry and eggs.

Some studies have found that limiting the amount of time women wears their bras everyday can help reduce the risk of breast cancer as well.

Taking black cohosh nutritional supplements and drinking green tea may also help individuals avoid the disease.

According to the American Cancer Society, one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes in the U.S. One of the best ways to fight it remains being vigilant about breast self-examination and reporting anything unusual to your healthcare provider.

Most people don’t know their pH balance level, much less the range it should be in for maximum health. When your pH is too low, it means that your body is swimming in acid… and that can cause clogged arteries, improper digestion and possible organ failure. This article, along with our helpful list of questions, will help you figure out if your body is too acidic.

It’s no secret that your body is made up of about 70 percent water. Every one of your 100 trillion cells is filled with water. And every other chemical in your body—from the stomach acid you need to digest food… to the blood that carries oxygen and nutrients to the cells of all your organs—either contain water or are suspended in water.

For you to be healthy that water needs to have a healthy pH balance. The letters “pH” mean “potential of hydrogen” and the measure of how acidic or alkaline your body is ranges on a scale from 0 (most acidic) to 14 (most alkaline).

You will achieve optimum health much easier—and avoid getting sick—when your organ tissues stay in a slightly alkaline environment, or about 7.0 to 7.5 as measured by saliva.

Is an acidic pH balance behind YOUR symptoms?

Is your skin or hair aging more rapidly than it should?

Do you notice that your eyesight or hearing is fading at an alarming rate?

Do you suffer from low sexual desire or performance problems?

Do you contract infections more often with each passing year?

If you answered “YES” to one or more of these questions, there’s a good chance that you may be suffering from acid overload. In addition to the best nutrition you can consume, the next step is to supplement with alkalizing minerals.
