When buying bread, you shouldn’t just grab the darkest loaf on the shelf and think you’re getting the most whole grains. Some breads are loaded with caramel coloring and may contain very few natural grains. Be sure to check the label for “100 percent whole grain” or “100 percent whole wheat.” When it comes to the most nutritious breads, the full percent means you’re getting fiber, selenium, potassium and magnesium that many white breads lose during the refining process.
