Glaucoma is defined by the National Eye Institute as a group of diseases that can damage the eye’s optic nerve and result in vision loss and blindness. Anyone can be affected by glaucoma, but those over the age of 60 and people with a history of the disease have an increased risk. Other factors include diabetes, smoking and prolonged sun exposure. Be sure to have your eyes examined by a professional to determine the status of your eyesight and other risks.
