If you have high blood pressure try eating low-sodium breads and spreads. You can find low-sodium mayonnaise, butter and margarine spreads at many supermarkets and health food stores. They might taste bland, but can be spiced up with garlic, pepper or paprika to improve the flavor. An excellent spread to use on sandwiches is avocados. Let them fully ripen and they spread like mayonnaise. Avocados are loaded with vitamin K and low in sodium. They also have fewer calories than butter or mayonnaise and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
