There are many tips and tricks you can incorporate to suppress your appetite and still consume the right amount of calories, unsaturated fats, vitamins and minerals.

According to Women’s Health magazine, you should try these solutions:

  • Breakfast is the most important meal, so be sure to add lots of lean protein that can help keep you satisfied for longer. Foods include Canadian bacon, egg whites or low-fat yogurt.
  • Potatoes contain a low-calorie starch that helps resist digestive enzymes. These spuds take longer to break down and stay in your body longer, so they may reduce hunger pangs. One medium potato contains only about 100 calories.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids can be good fats for your body, along with oleic acid found in olive oil, nuts and avocados. But only 20 percent of your total calories should come from unsaturated fats.
  • Add grapefruit to your morning meal. This citrus fruit can help regulate your insulin levels, balance your blood sugar and boost your metabolism levels.
  • If you find yourself hungry between meals, grab gum instead of other sugary snacks. Chewing sugarless gum may help trigger satiety responses in the brain.
