Simple Tips When Enjoying Outdoor Fun In The Sun

The summer months offer many outdoor activities and that means sun exposure in most all cases. So while you do need ample amounts of vitamin D from ultraviolet rays… it shouldn’t come at the expense of your skin’s health.

A healthy amount of sun exposure is about 15 to 20 minutes, but anything beyond that should require sun protection. It’s recommended you use sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF) and reapply at least every two hours or immediately after swimming. And if you have leftover sunscreen from last summer… toss it out. Most of them lose their SPF concentration after a year or so.

When enjoying activities outdoors you can also protect your skin by wearing clothing made of fabric with an SPF. Lighter clothing offers the least amount of protection, but darker items can be hot during the summer months so choose wisely depending on your activity.

To keep your skin protected year-round, look for body and face lotions that contain SPF for daily wear. This can provide added protection against the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
