You may be traveling during the holidays and that can bring some unwanted discomfort. Flying or driving through multiple time zones can trigger conditions such as jet lag, resulting in insomnia, sinus problems, joint aches and nausea.

To help get relief while away from home try these suggestions:

  • Carry your own pillows. This will ensure the correct firmness you are accustomed to, plus it may have the familiar feel and scent of home.
  • Lavender oil can help you fall asleep faster. By placing a few drops of the clear oil on your pillows or sheets, the aroma will soothe you into a peaceful slumber. Other sleep aids include valerian root, chamomile and passionflower.
  • Ginger can help ease a queasy stomach. This nutrient comes in pill, powder or root form, but candies or suckers may be easier to access while traveling. Peppermint oil or candies can also help.
