If you don’t get enough sleep then you could be plagued with dark circles that appear under your eyes. Other causes stated by the Mayo Clinic include allergies, eczema, smoking, alcohol consumption, nasal congestion, sun exposure and the loss of collagen.

But you don’t need to resort to medical procedures or start making an appointment for risky and expensive collagen injections. There are many natural methods to help clear your skin for a refreshed look:

  • Make sure you are getting seven to eight hours of restful sleep. You can elevate your pillows to help decrease fluid buildup around your eyes.
  • Use a face lotion with a high sun protection factor (SPF) to minimize the exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays.
  • Try a cotton ball soaked in cool milk or witch hazel. Place on the eyes for about 10 minutes. These two remedies can help make dark circles disappear.
  • Cool cucumber slices can help extract fluid away from the eye area and leave a clean and refreshed look. Leave them on for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can also try tea bags. Once you’ve boiled the tea, set aside the tea bag to cool and then place on the eyes for about 15 minutes.
  • Though expensive, many face creams on the market are loaded with antioxidants, retinol and vitamins C, E and K to help reduce dark circles.
  • Concealers can provide a temporary remedy. Use peach-colored or green-colored formulas under your make-up.
