Natural remedies for acneThose struggling with skin disorders such as acne who do not want to take antibiotics or use skin-drying creams may benefit from a range of herbal remedies.

One of the key elements of a natural approach to treating acne is a well-balanced diet, rich in fresh fruit and vegetables and low in sweets and dairy products. Fatty, fried and spicy foods have also been known to aggravate acne-associated skin lesions.

Studies have furthermore shown that green tea extract has potent anti-inflammatory properties.

According to Natural Acne Remedies, an informational website, an independent study conducted in 2003 reported to the American Academy of Dermatology that the results of treating acne with a 3 percent green tea cream were comparable to a 4 percent benzoyl peroxide solution, without the drying and irritating effects of the latter.

Health experts also stress the beneficial effect of vitamins A, C and E with their antioxidant qualities on the skin. Moreover, vitamin B5, which reduces oil production, may help alleviate the disorder.

For those who are concerned about their dietary vitamin intake, nutritional supplements are a good option.
