Study: Infertility Could Lead to Higher Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Men who suffer from infertility may want to consult with their doctor over the possibility of other health concerns as a new study suggests that the problem could also increase a man’s risk of developing prostate cancer.
Staying on top of PSA levels could be a life-saving cautionary measure as research printed in the journal, Cancer, suggests that infertile men have an increased risk of developing a more serious level of prostate cancer which could grow and spread at a faster pace than their more potent counterparts.
The researchers studied approximately 22,562 men in 15 infertility centers and discovered that sterile men were 2.6 times more likely to be diagnosed with a high grade of prostate cancer compared to fertile males.
The scientists recommend that upon further study to back up their findings, it may be a good idea for infertile men to begin early prostate cancer screening as a way to quickly diagnose the problem should it occur. This may be able to help prevent the disease from spreading as quickly.
